This Christmas we are asking for your donations to help women and children like Michelle and her daughter.
Michelle is an ex-resident of Trevi’s residential rehab. Six years ago, pregnant, addicted to hard drugs, and in an abusive relationship, Michelle couldn’t see a way out. Michelle came to Trevi for understanding, support and in the hope of a better life.
Trevi helped me believe in myself
‘I went to Trevi’s rehab centre when I was eight months pregnant. They really helped me to believe in myself and helped me to be the mum that I am today.
‘Today, me and my daughter are extremely close, and we are like little best mates. It’s just her and me against the world. I am in a flat with my daughter; I have got somewhere I can call home. I never had that before.’
Every 16 minutes, another child is taken into care
The statistics are scary – every 16 minutes, another child is taken into care in the UK, with only 1 in 10 being reunited with their mum.
‘I don’t know where I would be without Trevi. They came into my life just at the right time. I can’t explain in words just how much they did for my daughter and me. Without Trevi, my life doesn’t bear thinking about.
‘I was lucky to get the chance to go to Trevi. Yet, due to lack of funding, so many other mums and children sadly don’t. It’s heart-breaking.’
